White Oak Storm 1850 is a mid to dark tone floor with some rustic elements. This stain is one of our two-pass finishes, which involves a two-part staining process. The boards are stained black and then sanded off; leaving black hugging the bevels, grain, and uniquely throughout the boards. Our storm stain is applied giving the floor a medium grey with brown undertones. This stain gives a beautiful rustic look with the ability to work in a modern setting.
Live Sawn is a specialty cut of wood we do which enables us to provide our clients with a very wide and unique hardwood floor. It is sawn using the Old World European method and incorporates all aspects of the log's character. It is very rustic with large knots, and varying grain patterns including rift sawn and quarter sawn. A large majority of the grain is quarter sawn giving it incredible stability which is the reason we can offer it up to 10" wide. A 7" Live Sawn board will shrink and expand roughly as much as a 4" plain sawn board making this floor the perfect option for a cottage. For wide planks we recommend a nail and bead glue installation. The live sawn is a perfect floor for dogs.

My wife and I shopped flooring for 2 years for a new build. Gaylor Hardwood was a great source of honest information about wood flooring. We did 3000 sq ft of the Storm 1850 white oak and it turned out better than I imagined. I love the floor and pricing was spot on. We also ordered the matching flush mount floor vents - they finish the look perfectly.
