Ash hardwood flooring has a very similar appearance to red oak hardwood flooring. Both, Ash and Oak have wide swirling grain that show off the stain colour, especially within the swirls. The Emerald Ash Borer is quickly killing the Ash tree population, which has led to a large number of the trees being cut down. Ash is about two percent more dense than red oak, two percent less dense than white oak, eight percent less dense than hard maple, roughly seventy-two percent as dense as hickory or pecan, and sixty percent as dense as Santos Mahogany’s ranking of 2200.
