Whether you’re an industry pro or a design-minded homeowner, you’ll find Gaylord Hardwood Flooring on the road this month at the IIDEX exposition and conference in Toronto (Sept. 20-21), followed by the Home & Design Show in Ottawa (Sept. 28-30).
At the IIDEX Exposition
From the latest trends in lighting and textiles to discussions about socially sustainable architecture, IIDEX is an industry showcase of the hottest new developments in design and architecture. This year marks the first time Gaylord Hardwood Flooring (Booth 945, Material World Expo) will have a presence at the annual Canadian exposition and conference, held at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto Sept. 20 and 21. “[IIDEX] is a way for professionals to see what’s out there, and a chance for designers and architects to find new products they can spec for jobs they’re doing,” explained Greg Gaylord, Sales Manager at Gaylord Hardwood Flooring. “I’m not bringing the normal natural oak with me,” he noted. “That’s the stuff everyone has.” Instead, conference attendees will find newer colours and unique hardwood flooring available through Gaylord Hardwood Flooring. “We’ll have stuff like Wide-Plank Live Sawn Oak, and woods like Birdseye Maple, which is really rare and mostly Ontario sourced.” Wide-Plank Live Sawn Oak uses a centuries-old European method of wood cutting that prevents the wood from expanding and shrinking as much as regular cuts do. That makes live sawn oak the perfect wood for humid conditions, like those found in Ontario’s cottage country. Birdseye Maple is marked by a distinct swirling pattern in the wood; scientists don’t know how the pattern is created, so nobody has been able to cultivate it.
At the Home & Design Show
The Ottawa Home & Design Show, at the CE Centre from Sept. 28 to 30, highlights the latest in home improvement and inspiring design for do-it-yourselfers and backyard enthusiasts. You’ll find us just outside of the main exhibit hall (Booth 107). "Hardwood flooring has a classic style that a lot of people prefer over carpet," observed Gaylord. "All hardwoods are not created equal, and what we offer is very different from what people will find at the big box stores. We want them to come see and feel the difference." In addition to unique woods like the wide-plank live sawn oak and birdseye maple noted above, our booth will also have samples of standard and engineered flooring.
